This completed project transformed a plain dining wall into a bold architectural focal point. The custom geometric layout and deep blue-gray finish add structure, contrast, and character without taking away any usable floor space.

The original dining area had a large blank wall finished in the same light neutral color as the surrounding interior. The room was functional, but the wall lacked definition and did not visually anchor the dining table.

A custom geometric board and batten pattern was designed around the wall’s dimensions. Diagonal trim lines intersect across the surface, creating movement while maintaining a balanced composition.

A perimeter frame gives the installation a clean finished edge, and the existing electrical outlets remain accessible within the design.

The layout was measured and transferred directly onto the wall before the architectural trim was installed. The process included:

• Planning the geometric composition
• Measuring and cutting each trim section
• Installing the perimeter frame
• Aligning the diagonal details
• Preparing the joints and trim
• Applying a unified painted finish

Painting the trim and background in the same color creates a clean, dimensional appearance.

The dark blue-gray wall provides strong contrast against the light ceiling, adjacent walls, white baseboards, and wood-look flooring. Once the dining furniture was returned, the accent wall became a natural backdrop for the space.
